Saving the Best for Last doesn't Always Work...
I can't help but blame myself for losing our debate this afternoon. SURE! I can blame the timer for not clapping his hands loud enough so I can monitor my time. Sure! I can blame my partner for not extending my case. Sure! I can even blame that stupid dementor who kept on distracting me by mimicking my gestures. Sure! I can blame my professor for choosing the other teams to win. But in the end, it all boils down to the point that it was all my fault.
"Mr Labrador, again, this is an issue of POOR time management." (Bernadas, 2007)Why did I ever think that saving our best case for last will work? Maybe, I thought that it would sound better, or it will assure us that it will be the last thing that will stick to the mind of the adjudicator. But of course! I'm wrong. Saving the best for last daosn't always work (especially in debates).
"Mr. Labrador, you ended your speech at seven minutes, four seconds."What was I thinking again? I have sixteen more seconds; maybe, if I used that time, we would have won. Regrets... Regrets... Regrets... There really is no more room for regrets. No more room for self pity. We should try to move on to a better future. There's always room for improvement. Comfort me with these words, but they still would not work.
You can argue that it was a good debate. That's the point! It will definitely make us feel better if we won a good debate. This is not being GC*. C'mmon! Think about all those bragging rights at stake. Hahaha! Am I a bad loser? But what else can I do? I just need to get this out of my mind. I will try to leave these thoughts. After this blog entry I will not think about it ever again.
Lesson Learned? Saving the Best for Last doesn't Always Work. So when you have a bowl of sinigang, and just when you're think of leaving the best part for last, think again. So when you a bag of candies, and when you're about to think of saving your favorite flavor for last, think again. So when you have a peso left on your load and thought of texting your most loved one with it, think again! Learn from this experience.
Saving the best for last DOESN'T always WORK!
And with that I rest my case.
